I recently learned that ELISPOT image analysis techniques can also be used for plaque assays and for colony counting. In retrospect, this makes sense. Viral plaque assays and bacterial colonies aren't formed in the same way as ELISPOT wells, but the fundamental principles of spot analysis are rather similar.
